In honour of Brigg’s true founding father Charles Brigg, this range has been assembled to celebrate our classic umbrellas that are adorned with exotic handles and attached to a stained beech wood shaft.

Brigg’s tale begins with Charles Brigg who was born in 1783. Charles trained as a plumassier or feather-maker with his trade involving decorating hats, dresses and fans. For Charles his speciality was supplying plumes for the military, yet later he branched out into ladies accessories with the skill of his wife Elizabeth. Charles’ son Thomas helped open another store in St James’ Street in 1828 which sold various accessories, along with parasols. With the help of his son Thomas, umbrellas became of such importance to their business that when Charles passed in 1830, he described himself in his will as ‘umbrella maker’. Due to Charles' vision, Brigg has been an international byword for the best of British craftsmanship since 1836.
